About the Event:
Join us for this lecture by Sergey Zherebkin, who will examine the online social media debates that have accompanied the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War. Zherebkin will discuss five key themes in this online appendage to the war:
1. Debates on fascism in Putin’s Russia;
2. Debates on Russia’s collective guilt;
3. Debates on cancelling of Russia’s culture;
4. Debates on the Russian-Ukrainian war on the left;
5. Feminist responses to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
About the Speaker:
Sergey Zherebkin is Professor of Philosophy at the Center for Humanities Education, Kharkiv Branch, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. His books include Unstable Ontologies in Contemporary Philosophy (St. Petersburg: Aletheia, 2014); World and Peace by Judith Butler (with Irina Zherebkina) (St. Petersburg: Aletheia, 2018); Cyborg-Nationalism, or Ukrainian Nationalism in the Era of Post-Nationalism (with Irina Zherebkina) (St. Petersburg: Aletheia, 2019); Contemporary Western Philosophy. Introduction (with Irina Zherebkina) (St. Petersburg: Aletheia, 2022).
Zherebkin is currently affiliated at the London School of Economics and Political Science as a Visiting Senior Fellow in the Department of Sociology. While in London he will be providing QMUL students with an “Introduction to Ukrainian Studies” mini-course.
