This afternoon workshop will explore conceptual and historical questions about majoritarianism in South Asia, and its relation to how we think about nationalism, identity, violence and democracy. Participants in the afternoon workshop will be invited to consider a series of problems, exploring methodological approaches as well as scholarly interventions into the present political context. Discussions will be guided by three specialists working in different contexts across South Asia, focusing variously on majoritarianism and war\/insurgency in Pakistan; majoritarianism and history\/memory in Bangladesh; & majoritarianism and space\/geography in Sri Lanka. Speakers to be announced shortly.<\/div>\n

The workshop is scheduled for 14:00-16:30. Afterwards, from 17:30-20:00, there will be a screening of the documentary\u00a0Lynch Nation<\/i>\u00a0and a panel discussion<\/a> with Furqan Faridi (Co-Director), Amrit Wilson (Activist and Author), Rohit Dasgupta (University of Loughborough and Labour Councillor, Newham), Akshi Singh (QMUL) and Annapurna Waughray (MMU).
