The first lecture, titled &#8216;How Should We Think About Freedom&#8217;, was part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlu.edu\/mudd-center\/programs-and-events\/2015-2016-the-ethics-of-citizenship\/quentin-skinner\">the Mudd Center&#8217;s lecture series on &#8216;The Ethics of Citizenship&#8217;<\/a>, while the second lecture, titled\u00a0&#8216;Why Shylock Loses His Case: Judicial Rhetoric in\u00a0<em>The Merchant of Venice<\/em>&#8216;, was part of the university&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlu.edu\/shakespeare-2016\/speakers\/quentin-skinner\">year-long celebration of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare&#8217;s death in April 1616<\/a>.
