Hackathon 2024

The 2024 Hackathon took place in collaboration with the Hidden in Plain Sight project which is using cutting edge technologies from 3D microscopy and Micro-CT scanning to DNA analysis and Xray Florescence to explore how ancient books were used, modified and venerated. Successsful applicants joined the project’s team at the world-renowned Cambridge University Library, where they worked to create prototypes of a web-based public history output from this project. Prototypes and the ideas they generate engaged with diverse audiences beyond the University and informed the project’s final outputs. The programme brought together students with varied levels of technical and historical knowledge to work alongside the project team including researchers, developers, curators, catalogers and conservators. The programme included students from:
- School of History, Queen Mary University of London
- The University of Cambridge
- Charles University, Prague
- The Hebrew University, Jerusalem
- School of History, Radboud University Nijmegen
