He spoke at the conclusion of a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b06kgvc8\" target=\"_blank\">special edition of The Film Programme marking the 70th anniversary of <\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b06kgvc8\" target=\"_blank\">Brief Encounter<\/a>. <\/em>Then,\u00a0on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b06pb835\" target=\"_blank\">All in the Mind<\/a>, he discussed the history and science\u00a0of tears and health with Claudia Hammond, including a\u00a0recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/2015\/sep\/22\/anxiety-crying-mental-health-mind\" target=\"_blank\">Mind campaign about crying and anxiety<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas&#8217;s book\u00a0<em>Weeping Britannia<\/em> was selected as one of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2015\/dec\/05\/best-history-books-2015-review-david-horspool\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Guardian&#8217;s<\/em> best history books of 2015<\/a>, while in the\u00a0<em>Times Literary Supplement<\/em>&#8216;s Books of the Year for 2015 it was nominated by\u00a0both Professor Sir Richard Evans (Cambridge) and Professor Ritchie Robertson (Oxford). In the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/new.spectator.co.uk\/2015\/11\/books-of-the-year-the-best-and-most-overrated-of-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Spectator<\/em>\u00a0round-up of the best books of the year<\/a>,\u00a0<em>Weeping Britannia<\/em> was one of the choices of Thomas W.
