In this special event for the <a href=\"http:\/\/beinghumanfestival.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Being Human Festival of Humanities<\/a>, we explore patient experiences of cancer, past and present.<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth Toon (University of Manchester),<em>&#8220;A conspiracy of pretence&#8221;: learning to cope with mastectomy in twentieth-century Britain<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sue Ziebland (Health Experiences Research Group, University of Oxford), <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthtalk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Healthtalk.org<\/a>\u00a0as an online resource for people with cancer, and their family and friends<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Healthtalk.org is a website providing information and support\u00a0for\u00a0a range of health issues through people&#8217;s real life\u00a0experiences. Thousands of people have shared their experiences on film to help others understand what it\u2019s really like to have a health condition such as breast cancer or arthritis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/emotionscancer.eventbrite.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Register your place on Eventbrite<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The talk will take place in the Arts Two building (room 2.17), Mile End Campus, London E1 4NS.
